DELIVERING on A DIGITAL FUTURE

The European Commission actively encourages and empowers the participation of girls and women in STEM and ICT Careers and acts across various initiatives to realise our digital ambitions.

More women in digital means:

We want to make sure that everyone, no matter their background, has an equal chance to thrive in the digital world in Europe

Europe needs more people in ICT jobs. The Digital Decade target is to increase the number of ICT professionals in Europe from 9 million in 2022 to 20 million by 2030.

More diverse and gender-balanced teams are likely to produce not only fairer and more inclusive digital technology and solutions, but better ones, too

women in digital declaration

The Women in Digital declaration, aims to promote the active participation of women in the digital sector.

The declaration signed by Member States centres on enhancing digital skills, challenging gender stereotypes, and fostering women entrepreneurs in tech.

Connecting Women in Digital (WIDCON), through its focus on empowering women in the digital space, supports these objectives by creating platforms to share knowledge, expand skills, and networks, and work towards the goals of the Digital Decade Policy Programme.

The initiative also contributes to addressing the digital gender gap, promoting a greater involvement of women in shaping Europe’s digital future and a more inclusive and equitable digital economy.

Women in Digital Scoreboard 2024 tracks Europe’s progress in closing the digital gender gap. It evaluates women’s inclusion in ICT careers, skills, and employment using key indicators, supporting the EU’s Digital Decade goals
