GeekGirls is an organization that empowers young people in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics) through programs, mentorship, and community initiatives, with a strong focus on inclusion and support.
What GeekGirls does
GeekGirls runs programs and mentoring activities designed to help young people explore and pursue their interests in STEAM, and it has already supported hundreds of participants. The organization aims to help them overcome barriers, gain confidence, and see themselves as future innovators and leaders in these fields.
Values and environment
The initiative emphasizes an inclusive, supportive environment where diverse voices can thrive, especially those underrepresented in STEAM. The team focuses on making sure every young person feels seen, supported, and empowered to succeed, not just technically skilled.
Leadership and community
GeekGirls was founded by Patricia Souza, who brings over 20 years of experience in inclusion, education, and leadership development. Over time, the organization has grown into a community of advocates, educators, and mentors who collaborate to inspire the next generation of innovators.
