The initiative was launched in 2022 in response to the persistent gender gaps in skills and representation within STEAM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) and seeks to raise visibility, raise awareness, and transform the technological landscape to make it more accessible, inclusive, and equitable.
The specific objectives of the initiative are to:
- Raise awareness of the importance of integrating a gender perspective in the use and understanding of
technology. - Bring the gender and technology perspective into schools and high schools in Sant Boi.
- Expose sexism and cyber-violence within the technological and digital spheres.
- Encourage reflection on the gender digital divide and the importance of integrating technology into our daily lives.
- Work towards eradicating social exclusion caused by the digital divide.
THE CHALLENGE
The main challenge identified is the lack of girls and women in STEM field and the gender digital divide.
OUR SOLUTION
La Tecnòloga is a project created to highlight and advocate for the role of girls and women in the fields of science and technology, while also addressing and combating the gender digital divide by promoting referents.
Its aim is to emphasise the importance of women’s participation in science and technology, as well as the need to incorporate a gender perspective when analysing data.
OUTCOME
